Pilot Saloon 42’s Appeal
Style and Innovation
Classically stylish with the expected Wauquiez high standard of finish, the latest offering from the French shipyard, the Pilot Saloon 42, is turning heads and the hearts of sailboat judges. Her Berret Racoupeau design melds style, innovation, performance, and uber-comfort in an exceptionally large, bright, and airy saloon with raised seating for a panoramic view from the dining table. No more gloomy belowdecks. But, in a surprising innovation borrowed from superyacht design, the crew can darken or lighten the wrap-round windows with the touch of a phone app.
The galley is organized along a straight line to port integrated with a U-shaped dinette.
The 42 offers layouts for two staterooms or three. The spacious forward stateroom offers a double berth with large head with a shower. The aft head also has a shower stall.
Hull Design & Performance
The high-performance hull design is highlighted by a straight bow stretching to the waterline to maximum length which yields better performances and higher speeds. The Saloon 42’s plumb stem and nearly plumb transom squeeze every last centimeter from the boat’s sailing length. Her chines and broad run aft maximize power and sail-carrying ability. The twin helms and rudders giver her crew complete control at all speeds and direction. Soft hull chines with a powerful bow create high shape stability ensuring responsiveness in all conditions.
